Jumpseat Radio 041: Mental Health Help for Todays Firefighters 

 

In this weeks episode of Jumpseat Radio host Ryan Pennington welcomes in Mark Lamplugh from the American Addictions Center to talk about mental health in the fire service.  With the number of firefighters struggling with addiction, substance abuse, and suicide Mark shares some insight on:

  • Where to reach out for help 
  • The growing number of suicides in the fire service

Bio:

 

 

Mark Lamplugh Jr. is a 4th generation firefighter and former Captain with the Lower Chichester Fire Company. He is now a national treatment consultant with American Addiction Centers specializing in First Responder Services.  Mark has placed and referred 100’s of firefighters nationwide.  Mark dedicates his life making sure every firefighter gets the help they need for Addiction and Mental Health issues.  He can be reached for comment at mlamplugh@contactaac.com or 888-731-FIRE.

Davids Bio 

David Brosnahan is a battalion chief with the Roseville, Minn., Fire Department. His primary job is the coordination of the day-to-day operations at Roseville Fire. Chief Brosnahan holds a bachelor of arts degree from Hamline University and a graduate certificate in Public Health Emergency Response from the University of Minnesota.  Chief Brosnahan is a certified fire instructor, Live Burn 1403 instructor and a fire instructor with Hennepin Technical College teaching NFPA 1001 and Live Burn training.

Deputy Chief, Santa Clara County, CA, FD

 

Steve Prziborowski, a firehouse.com Contributing Editor, is a Deputy Chief with the Santa Clara County (Los Gatos, CA) Fire Department, and a Fire Technology Instructor at Chabot College (Hayward, CA). Steve has a Master’s Degree in Emergency Services Administration, is a State Certified Master Instructor, and has completed the Executive Fire Officer Program. Steve has been published in all of the major fire service publications including Firehouse, is a frequent speaker at fire service events such as Firehouse World and Expo, and was selected as the 2008 Ed Bent California Fire Instructor of the year.
